Design Concept & Approach
The project was developed using Rhino and Grasshopper,
culminating in a 3D-printed dish crafted from resin and adorned
with crystals. This design honors the rare and meaningful
moments when loved ones unite, bonded by their love for you - a
day that imprints a lasting influence on your life. The rotating
catch-all dish is both functional and symbolic, with its bow-tie
shape evoking the sentiment of remembrance. Programmatically
generated to embody the unique geometry of March 15, 2023,
every detail, from the positioning of the crystals to the
overall form, is derived from that specific date.
Why Parametric Design
In parametric design, numerical values are fundamental, while
emotional resonance is essential to creating impactful designs.
By merging these two elements, we can transform abstract dates
into distinct, tangible shapes, offering a visual representation
of meaningful moments. This approach not only bridges the
precision of data with the depth of human experience but also
allows for the creation of unique, personalized forms that
capture the essence of a memory.
